Clinical trial assistant jobs — the most common first job in the industry.

CTAs are the admin backbone of a study team: tracking documents, scheduling, filing regulatory paperwork, chasing sites for signatures. CROs hire them in cohorts, and the role is the single most common launch pad into CRC, CRA, and regulatory operations careers. This page lists CTA openings from CRO and sponsor career pages, re-checked all day, each with the people who work there. Free, no card.

Why CTA is the smart entry

You learn the vocabulary of trials — protocol, IRB, ICF, EDC — before anyone asks you to touch a patient. Employers hire for organization and follow-through, not lab skills, and the internal paths open fast: site start-up, regulatory support, data, or the CRA track.

What CTAs get paid

None of the CTA postings we currently index advertise a salary — most CROs post the band offline or at intake. The CTA salary page carries that number live, computed from whatever the employers actually publish, and updates the moment any of them starts posting pay. CTA isn't the destination anyway — it's the on-ramp, and the title compounds quickly from there. See entry-level clinical research jobs if you're still choosing doors.

Questions

Do I need experience to be a clinical trial assistant? Usually not paid research experience — a bachelor's (often any life-science-adjacent field) plus genuine organizational skill. CROs hire CTA cohorts year-round.

Is CTA or CRC the better first job? CTA is easier to get and leads everywhere inside a CRO; CRC is patient-facing at a site. If you're people-oriented, aim CRC; if you're systems-oriented, CTA — or use CTA to pivot into regulatory operations later.

What is an entry-level clinical research job? The honest set: clinical trial assistant, CRC I, university research assistant, and the data, regulatory, and safety associate seats at CROs. The tour of the doors, hour by hour: a day in the life of a CTA.
