The GCP interview checklist.

Nobody expects a beginner to know how to run a trial. They do expect the vocabulary. Learn these eight terms cold, with one sentence of why each matters — 0 of 8 checked so far.

1. ✓ProtocolThe trial's instruction manual. Deviations from it are reportable events, and your job is to run visits exactly as written.
2. ✓ICF (informed consent form)The document that makes a patient a participant. Nothing happens before it's signed — and walking someone through it calmly is the core skill.
3. ✓IRBThe ethics committee that approves everything a site does. Every protocol amendment, ad, and consent tweak goes through it.
4. ✓GCPGood Clinical Practice — the industry's rulebook. A GCP certificate is the cheapest credible signal on a thin résumé.
5. ✓AE / SAEAdverse event / serious adverse event. The reason 'report within 24 hours' gets drilled into every coordinator.
6. ✓EDCElectronic data capture — where the trial's data lives (Rave, Oracle Clinical, Veeva). Coordinators spend real time in it.
7. ✓Source documentsThe original proof of everything that happened. Monitors check the EDC against them, so they're kept immaculate.
8. ✓Monitoring / SDVThe CRA's audit of your site — source data verification. Hosting it well is a coordinator badge of honor.
