How to read the table
Category tells you the job family it trains you for; "best at" is the honest one-liner; "where you'll see it" predicts the postings. Vault appears three times on purpose — the platform family shares admin concepts, and RIM experience is the strongest card of the three in the current market.
For the wider field — smaller suites, migration paths, what replaces what — see alternatives. Product names are descriptive only; Research Insiders isn't affiliated with any vendor.
What it costs (the honest version)
None of these platforms publish prices — all are enterprise, seat-based, and negotiated with sales. Budget for "substantial" rather than a number, treat any price you see quoted online as stale, and ignore "free eCTD software" download results: those are viewers for test dossiers, not validated publishing systems. If you're here to pick tools to learn rather than buy, the table above matters more than the invoice — and the seats these tools lead to (see regulatory operations salary) outlast most license fees.
Questions
What is the price of eCTD software? Not published. GlobalSubmit, docuBridge, and EXTEDO all price enterprise licensing directly with buyers — typically per seat plus services — so any specific figure on a blog (including roundups) is a guess. Request quotes from the vendors directly if you're buying.
Is there free eCTD software? For viewing and validating test dossiers, yes; for publishing real submissions, no — agencies expect validated, supported systems. The "free download" search results are viewers and utilities, not publishing platforms.
